History Center Displays (north wall II)
On the north wall, this page continues with Lifestyles and Neighbors
Lifestyles
Lifestyles is in the northwest corner of the historical center, and includes vocational and avocational activities.
- Using the Broom Center General Store cashbox (it had been installed under the lower shelf of the display case), we have a storyline regarding the minting of bills and specie in the late 19th and early 20th centuries stressing New York currency. Examples have been donated by Keith’s Collections (Keith and Kathy Armlin, Middleburgh New York).
- Two displays of competitive electrical generation equipment (an acetylene gas system, and a Delco battery system. Appropriately, these would be installed outside of the John and Anna Juried Agricultural Barn, and were used in local farms to light the house in the evenings.
Neighbors
Neighbors is between the Lifestyles area and the Reservoir, and includes family or political clusters of people. For instance, it could be a genealogical exhibit, the story of a family at a particular point in time, a neighboring hamlet, villages, or town.
Currently, we are looking at the following possibilities:
- The christening trousseau—several outfits for the christening of an infant in the Parliman family.
- We would like very much to discover another exhibit on one of the area’s major families.
