The Dorothy Cox Juried Pavilion
Panel 5: The Dorothy Cox Juried Pavilion
Since funding a small barn to protect agricultural equipment over a decade ago, Nick’s benevolence has centered on serious aspects of life, honoring the ethic, lifestyle, and wholesomeness of agricultural America (very Jeffersonian in this regard). Nick wanted to keep these virtues alive by keeping local history available to the people of his beloved area.
The idea of a pavilion had long been a topic of discussion, but it became attainable in 2017 and the motivation for funding it seems different — he specifically wanted to create a venue for people who did not have a downtown.
The first private use of the pavilion was to be the site of a local wedding, but too soon, Covid-19 put a serious damper on its use, and then Nick became unable to get here to experience the Dorothy Cox Juried Pavilion of 2022. But the events of this spring and summer — auctions, Gilboafest, Psychic Fairs, and Ice Cream Social — have all been fantastically successful and amazingly celebratory!
Nick’s original goal (creating a center for the town) was met by the 2022 Dorothy Cox Juried Pavilion! We had food, fun, and laughter, and a grandmother taught her granddaughter to dance thanks to our benefactor, Nicholas J. Juried.
